Do you have a passion for acquiring collection material? Are you interested in appraisal theories and enjoy applying them to real world situations? Love appraising, reappraising, or deaccessioning collections? Want to contribute to one of the most important functions of the archival profession? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you have what it takes to be the next Acquisitions and Appraisal Section’s vice chair/chair elect!
In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop activities, facilitate discussions, and assist with educational materials about acquisition and appraisal. With the influx of born digital materials, it’s an exciting time to become involved in the SAA section that is most involved with these two core functions. We hope you consider nominating yourself, a friend, or a colleague to help lead the section and advance the profession’s knowledge and discourse about what Gerald Ham termed “our most important and intellectually demanding task as archivists”.
The deadline for nominations has been extended. Please send name, email address, phone number, and institution (if available) of the suggested candidate to all members of the nominating committee. Candidates must be members of the Acquisitions and Appraisal Section to be considered for election. All candidates will be asked to contribute a bio and answer one question by June 14 for their candidate statement.
