The Acquisitions & Appraisal Section provides a forum for discussion of issues and interests pertaining to the acquisition and appraisal of public records, private papers, and other archival or manuscript collections.
This blog is a product of the Acquisitions & Appraisal Section of the Society of American Archivists. While the SAA microsite will continue to be the place to find official documentation (annual reports, meeting minutes, and other Section resources), we hope that this blog will give us an opportunity to engage in additional streams of conversation about issues related to the core archival functions of appraisal and acquisition.
There are currently a few main categories of blog articles:
- Repository Updates – archivists share their experiences with acquisition & appraisal (FYI: we’d love to post your Update too! Contact us about submissions)
- Community Interviews – posing questions to an archival professional
- Section News – highlighting A&A Section activities
- Third Thursday Chats – dialogue around a particular topic
We welcome your thoughts, ideas, comments, and suggestions for additional content! You can email us at appraisalsaa@gmail.com or contact a Steering Committee member directly via the SAA Members Directory.
